Biniaraix celebrates their own PROFESSOR OF THE BLOOD -Jean Dausset

The ‘Washing Square‘of the village is to be renamed ‘Jean Dausset Square’ in a ceremony tomorrow morning.

This illustrious child of the village of Binairaixwas awarded a Nobel Prize in 1980 for his services to medicine.  His speciality was in understanding blood and his work has had far reaching effects.
These are some facts about this man who loved Biniraix and the Soller Valley and spent many happy years there with his family.

Died: 6 June 2009, Palma, Majorca, Spain
Affiliation at the time of the award: Université de Paris, Laboratoire Immuno-Hématologie, Paris, France
Prize motivation: “for their discoveries concerning genetically determined structures on the cell surface that regulate immunological reactions”
