Diamonds were the friends of the press that gathered in the Belmond La Residencia this week. We marvelled at the beautiful, subtle diamond jewellery presented to us by Vanessa Tugendhaft. An A list of celebrities led by Madonna have been seen wearing her pink string band with the diamond in the middle. This is diamonds to go for everyone, not pack away diamonds in a vault but every day wear for diamonds – if that concept is is at all possible. It is easy to understand the allure of beautiful, expensive jewellery but Vanessa’s concept of bringing diamonds to young people as subtle, trendy, affordable fashion items is almost revolutionary in the jewellery world.
Vanessa Tugendhaft has just launched her Diamond Perfume exclusively at the Belmond La Residencia and I was there to smell and touch this fabulous product. This is a gift like no other and the concept is working for those who want to give their loved one the ultimate present. There are three perfumes in the range Diamond Rose, Diamond Blanc or Diamond Jaune. All are sensual heady scented whirls with orient base notes made out of wood, white musk and gray amber and enhanced by bergamot.
Diamonds are at the heart of all that Vanessa Tugendhaft designs. This can be seen clearly in the first Diamond Concept Store that she has opened in Saint Germain-des-Pres in Paris. From a diamond family in Antwerp in Belgium Vanessa strove to make her mark on the family business. Her aim was to take diamonds to the masses and particularly to a younger audience. The launch into perfume was inevitable for her in the progress of her brand but how to connect it the diamond was the thought that kept her awake at night. Then as the development process got under-way it all became clear to this innovative young woman. A beautiful gift combining the two and it all works like this:
The diamond rose is on the front of the perfume bottle. A glistening rose patterned jewel in the heart of beautiful perfume. What woman could resist such a luxurious gift -but that’s not all. When the perfume has been used the precious bottle is taken or sent back to the Diamond Worksop and a bracelet or necklace is made using the diamond from the bottle which the customer can chose. The diamond jewellery is packaged in a subtle leather pouch and sent back to the owner. This prolongs the pleasure of the gift and the anticipation of the diamond to come enhances everything about the perfume. Of course there are no additional charges for this service, the price paid at purchase includes the gold or silver chain that the diamond comes back to you on.
This product has now launched in over 70 outlets in many countries but today’s launch in the Belmond La Residencia in Deia is a first for Spain. Vanessa chose this Hotel because of the luxury and appreciation for style, elegance and beauty that the Hotel represents. The Spa Professionals led by Nicola Meek … were the people she wanted to work with. They offer a high end, superb service in their Spa and this was the team that Vanessa wanted to be associated with as she shares their ethos and professionalism.
The perfumes have been available in the Spa at the Residencia for week now and already they have had to re -order their stock. Many people staying in the Hotel or visiting the Spa have been amazed at this beautiful gift idea. So many special birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas presents would be enhanced by this fabulous present.
