Bonnie Lass was built in 1949 on the east coast of Scotland. Her life was that of a wooden framed working fishing boat. She caught herrings and dredged for scallops in Scotland and then fished for Salmon in the beauty of Northern Ireland before becoming a museum piece in the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle. The refit of 2014 replacing a total of 31 frames, modernizing the interior and fitting her with all safety features required for MCA coding mean that she is now fit for purpose. She is a reinvented old girl ready to work and play hard for the discerning guests she will welcome on board this year.
The vision of Bonnie Lass is to provide a a day trip or extended holiday on board like no other. This is a gentle amble into the past and a reminder of the beauty of traditional workmanship and a magnificent engine. As the gentle ‘put put’ of the engine takes you out to sea the cares of the world are left on shore. The toys are all taken with you for every experience you and your family would want from a day out at sea. The traditional boat and modern comfort are here for you to cast your own net or boating dream. The food and drink – all expertly prepared – are taken with you. Nothing left for you to do but give yourself up to your moment at sea.
Bonnie Lass can take 12 guests and has accommodation for all in specially designed sleeping areas in the hull. A flat screen TV might be needed for diversion after all that swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding and climbing – so it is provided – just in case. Bonnie Lass will be whatever experience you want it it to be from dinner parties to weddings, champagne breakfasts at sea to a corporate away day.
The Bonnie Lass team is led by Roo and Pete Lucas who are also the owners and the refitters of the boat. They love this boat with a passion and see this as the fulfilment of a lifetime ambition. Pete has worked in the yachting industry for 18 years as a professional captain. During this time he has skippered super yachts across oceans, clocked up over 120,000 nautical miles and has accumulated a wealth of experience in seamanship, ensuring that guests and crew alike can operate in a safe, relaxed and positive environment. Roo is from a yachting family and sailed before she could walk. It was inevitable that the sea would be her career and she too has sailed the world and made her career in the life of super yachts.
Roo and Pete are looking forward to welcoming you to the world of the Bonnie Lass as she starts her new one from the Port of Soller in Mallorca.
