OUR LADY OF FATIMA VISITS SOLLER




The statue of Our Lady of Fatima arrived in Mallorca on Thursday 16th October 2014. The statue is one of the twelve pilgrim statues of Our Lady of Fatima (representing the twelve disciples).  The image of Mary was said to have appeared to two children in Fatima in  Portugal –  Francisco and Jacinta.   They were both made saints by Pope John Paul 11 on 13th May 2000.

The statue has an ‘Evangelizing Mission’ and arrives to inspire the faithful to spread the word about their religion. It arrived in Soller on ‘Mission Sunday’ – 19th October 2014 and processed the streets of Soller. Fatima was taken into the Church of Sant Bartholomew and placed in the front of the people.  A mass and the rosary was said and then communion was offered.  There were over 600 people in the church at 5.30 pm on 19th October and many more came in later just to sit near the statue.

The congregation were urged in the special service to spread the word of their religion and do good to all.  The congregation of Sant Bartholmew in Soller were honoured that they were chosen to receive this visitation.
