Sunday, December 8, Spain celebrates the Day of the Immaculate Conception , a national holiday which this year, falls on a Sunday. This has led some autonomous communities to move the holiday to Monday, December 9 , while others have chosen to keep the calendar unchanged.

According to the resolution of the Official State Gazette (BOE) on the 2024 work calendar, seven autonomous communities have decided to move the holiday to Monday, December 9. These communities are Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castile and Leon, Extremadura, Murcia and Melilla .

In contrast, in communities such as Madrid, Catalonia, Galicia, the Basque Country, the Valencian Community, Navarre, La Rioja, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria and the Balearic Islands, Monday 9 December will be a working day .

In the case of the Balearic Islands, the regional government has decided not to move the holiday to Monday, December 9. Therefore, in the Balearic Islands, Monday will be a working day.

Friday 6th December is a Bank Holiday in the Balearic Islands and celebrates Constitution Day.
