Every town and village in Mallorca has a Church building. The Cathedral is in Palma and is a place visited as a tourist and worshipper by thousands every year.
In Soller the biggest Church is in the Placa, St Bartholomew – known locally as the ‘Cathedral of the Mountains’. It is not actually a cathedral – there is only one in Mallorca and that is in Palma. The Soller Valley has fine churches in Soller centre and at the Convent, Port of Soller, L’horta, Biniaraix, Fornalutx and Deia. These are all Catholic Churches with a team of Priests.
There are so many incomers who want to worship in their way. The Anglican Church in the Diocese of Europe has a church building in two places in the island. One in Palma in the Son Armadans suburb, and the other in the Port of Pollenca. Both churches conduct their services in English.
An Evangelical Church in English in Santa Ponsa and Spanish Evangelicals in many other places also have thriving congregations.
‘Religion on the Estates’ is growing quickly in Mallorca. This is the Sunday use of the industrial estate facilities for those who want to make the loudest noise! Music, orchestras and great singing often accompany our friends from Nigeria and Ghana in their worship. Indian friends have their meeting places there too. There is no lack of faith in Mallorca.
